How often do you find yourself mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted at the end of the day? Do you sometimes forget to take care of yourself because you are so busy caring for the needs of others in your life? I’m sure parent’s can agree with me on this one…we can get so emotionally depleted that it’s hard to give from an “empty well”.
The list below, I’ve found to be easily integrated into even my busiest schedule and can involve my baby boy, Max too!
1. Spend time in and/or around nature
No matter the season, there is always a way to appreciate and enjoy this Earth we are so blessed to live on. Whether it’s discovering the mountain’s mystery on a hiking trail, spending time bare foot in the back yard or park, bundling up to play in the snow, or even walking through a flower shop or greenhouse. By taking time to breathe the fresh air and appreciate the natural beauty of Mother Nature, we can spiritually elevated to a good feeling level.
2. Laughter and a sense of humor
Laughter provides a physical and emotional release. Lighten up a little bit and have friendly, fun conversations with your friends and family. Also, looking at situations with a sense of humor: “One day I’ll look back at this and laugh” gives us a chance to change our perspective and may distract us from a stressful situation. One of my favorite essential oils blends called Otter reminds us to not take life so seriously, laugh and have fun!
3. Be Present
Notice how many moments in your life are consumed by worry and/or fear. This is no way to live! Do you want to be 95 years old, looking back wishing that you would have just slowed down to smell the roses? We all have worries and fears, it’s just knowing when to let go and enjoy the present. The only thing that truly exists is this moment right now.
I love spending quality time with Max. When we go to the park or just play around the house. I put all distractions aside and am fully aware, focused, and present. Sometime’s all he needs is my undivided attention for a short amount of time. Then he goes on the occupy himself which allows me to do the things I need to do.
“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened”
4. Green Vitality
If you only do ONE healthy thing for your body a day, let it be Green Vitality! It contains 25 RAW greens that help purify and alkaline the body. Relieving symptoms that bum you out such as acne, excess weight, headache, fatigue etc! I seriously can’t live without these Greens and sip it all through the day–Kind of like my “health insurance” 😉
5. Make a quality connection with another human being
Quiet your mind and LISTEN, without the intent to respond. Fully take in what they are saying, be curious, be interested. Respond by summarizing what you’ve heard. For example “So what you are saying is…” People really appreciate being heard. You may find that the same respect is given back to you which will feel REALLY good!
“To be interesting, be interested.
Ask questions that other person will enjoy answering.
Encourage them to talk about themselves and their accomplishments.”
6. Compile a Gratitude List
Gratitude and anger cannot inhabit the same thought.By truly feeling grateful, our stress levels will go down and that is incredibly nourishing for both the body and soul. The more you get in the habit of writing what you are grateful for the better you will feel! I suggest hand writing your list because it gives you time to ponder and reflect on what you are grateful for.
7. Take a relaxing and nourishing bath with Essential Oils
Essential oils are nature’s healing medicine. From physical ailments to emotional fatigue, there is an oil for that! An essential oil bath is my go to stress-reliever. Usually I have Calm right next to the bath tub ready to go. The smell is so uplifting thanks to the marvelous blend of Tangerine, Ylang ylang, Rose wood and a few others. Accompany the essential oil(s) with 1/2 cup Dead Sea Salt and you pretty much have your own personal spa.
